Good question. AdRavage is a handy tool for automating the Craigslist search process. Instead of going to Craigslist.org you can use our site to automagically poll for up to 10 search terms and notify you when matching items are created. That simple!
This project was born out of frustration from trying to buy a car on Craigslist - a VW golf to be precise. I spent hours constantly searching for new ads and when I was fortunate to find something remotely close to my needs someone else had always beaten me to the seller.
I decided that searching Craigslist manually was not the optimal method and embarked on a quest to automate the process through notifications - hence this site. I figured there were others out there with the same need and selfishly hoarding this functionality would be a waste. I realize that other services exist with moderately similar functions, however the ultimate goal of the site, I think, will differentiate it enough to be relevant soon enough.
Although the idea was spawned out of using Craigslist, I plan on adding additional sites to be ravaged. The overall goal of AdRavage.com will be to provide a central management location for online notifications including sites such as Ebay, Autotrader, and Yahoo classifieds.
